macOS Monterey (version 12) is the 18th and current major release of macOS, Apple's desktop operating system for Macintosh computers. The successor to macOS Big Sur, it was announced at WWDC 2021 on June 7, 2021, and officially released on October 25, 2021.

The operating system is named after Monterey Bay. Apple has named releases of its desktop operating system for California locations since 10.9 Mavericks; previously, it named them for big cats.

I'm not sure what you mean by "Disk Utility"
when I try to run the package I get "x.x.x.x/macOSMonterey/vnc.html?port=60196" and 404...

Have you tried to enable Web server on your NAS?
Or why you not tried to connect vnc directly?

when I try to connect with vnc I get: "Connecting to my.nas.ip.address:5996..." and after a short while it just times out.

Hey Silas!

Unfortunatly the download doesn't work. It gives me an "Service Temporarily Unavailable" Error. Same goes for your Big Sur Version :/
Maybe you can help me (and others)?
